Your Own Story

We are still collecting stories from those who have had adverse experiences as a result of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. If you or your children were emotionally or otherwise injured, please provide us with an accounting of the experience(s).

We don't just want general expressions (e.g., "I think it's wrong to have 'under God' in the Pledge because ..."). Although we understand such feelings, those are not of value legally. What we want are specific incidents, such as when a teacher singled out a child, when a friendship was lost, when someone was ridiculed or otherwise harmed due to not saying the "under God" words or sitting through the Pledge recitation as a protest to those words.

1. Compose a short, declaration. It should be in numbered paragraphs, as shown below. Again, we're looking for concrete harms (such as exclusion, intimidation, lost opportunities, being shunned, feeling "left out," etc.).
   
   

2. Please sign your declaration - If you can have it notarized as well (without too much hassle or expense), that would be great.
    

3. Send the signed original by regular mail to:
